Where to download Claude Skills: sources and installation
Compare vendor collections, marketplaces, open-source repositories and packages, trace original instructions and choose a Claude Skills source for your task.
Claude Skills can be acquired through publisher pages, skill marketplaces, open-source repositories and project download packages. The right route depends on the selected skill and its host requirements. Find the original project, then follow its documentation. A website appearing in the SkillFlux catalog does not mean all of its content is available through the SkillFlux installable Registry.
Four acquisition routes
1. Publishers and official collections
Publisher material helps identify the origin and purpose of a project. Browse official vendor sources, such as ModelScope Skills, then continue to an individual skill’s instructions. If a platform addresses several agents, do not assume every entry works directly with Claude. Check the selected project’s host, version and dependency requirements.
2. Skill marketplaces
Marketplaces are useful for comparing a specific capability. An entry may link to an external repository or use a platform-provided acquisition method. Check the author, service terms and installation instructions for that entry. Browse skill marketplaces for candidate sources.
3. Open-source repositories
Repositories let you read skill instructions, supporting files and scripts. Distinguish an implementation from an awesome list that only links elsewhere; downloading a list does not install all of its linked skills. Browse open-source repository sources, then follow the selected project’s instructions for files or releases.
4. Project releases and individual skills
Once you know the project, use a download package or individual files supplied by its publisher. Keep the origin and version information, and check whether scripts, templates or other resources are required. The presence of an instruction file alone does not establish that the package is complete.
From discovery to a working trial
- Define the task and host environment, then use the skill discovery and comparison workflow to create a shortlist.
- Read the original requirements and inspect the files, scripts, license and dependencies.
- Install using the project and host instructions. If using a package manager, first confirm support for that package and version.
- Run a small task in a project you can restore, review the output and retain the version you actually used.
What can be installed through SkillFlux
The SkillFlux resource directory supports discovery of external sources. The curated Registry contains published, reviewed releases. To use the local SkillFlux installation workflow, confirm that the target skill is in the Registry and follow the setup guide. For external resources without a corresponding published release, follow their original documentation.
Choose what to download by task
For a Chinese draft, compare the focused options in the Chinese sources tag. For work across sessions, examine planning-with-files. For an application project, compare platform differences in Android Skills. For media assets, use claude-video to distinguish input and output requirements.
Unsure how directories, marketplaces and repositories differ? Read how to choose a skill source. Source identity helps establish origin; original documentation and an actual trial establish whether a capability fits your task.
